“BADMINTON BEDAZZLE”
AICS-SHUTTLE BADMINTON TOURNAMENT 2015
Lourdes Central School hosted Inter-School Shuttle Badminton Championship for Udupi and DK district for ICSE and CBSE schools-under 14 category at U.S. Mallya Indoor Stadium, Mannagudda, Mangalore on Friday 10th July 2015.
The inaugural ceremony was held at 9.00 a.m. The Chief Guest was Mr.Ashok Pooviah a former international badminton player, Rev Fr Wilson Vitus L D’souza, Manager of LCS, Rev Fr Robert D’souza, Principal of LCS, Mrs Charlotte Patrao, Secretary, Bijai Parish Council and Mrs. Belita Mascarenhas were present.
The esteemed guests, participants and team managers were welcomed and the tournament began by invoking God’s blessing with a prayer song sung by the students of LCS with the guidance of the Music Maestro Mr. Ivan Mascarenhas.
The Chief Guest was welcomed and introduced by Rev Fr Robert D’souza, Principal of LCS. The Chief Guest along with the dignitaries lighted the lamp and the tournament conveners led the dignitaries to inaugurate the event by playing across the net and opened the tournament. The Chief Referees Mr.Gautham Shetty and Mr. Chethan Sagar took charge of the tournament. The Chief Guest welcomed the budding sportsmen of various schools of Mangalore and DK with the spirit of sportsmanship.
There were 29 teams who took part in the tournament under 14 category for both boys and girls.
Under 14 (girls)
Winners were Akansha S Pai, Anika Bharatraj and Richelle Saladanha of Lourdes Central School. Runners Up were Varsha Karanth, Tanvi Rai, and Mahishmathi Shettigar of Vidyodaya Public School, Udupi.
The Best Player was Akansha S Pai of Lourdes Central School.
Under 14 (boys)
Winners were Prathvi Pai, Gautham R Nayak and Tarun R Hegde of Lourdes Central School. Runners Up were Gaurav Ajila, Arush Patrao and Chirac J Neeliyara of Cambridge School. The Best Player was Prathvi Pai of Lourdes Central School.
The valedictory programme was graced by the Principal and the Manager of LCS. Both of them addressed the gathering and appreciated the organizers, team managers of various schools and participants. They congratulated and honoured the winners and felicitated the team managers.
Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Anita Pinto and the tournament was beautifully compered by Mrs. Dilla Colaco.
