Konkani Manyata Divas was celebrated at Lourdes Central School on 20th August, 2016 with great enthusiasm. The programme began with a prayer song sung by the Konkani Learning students of class VIII. Auryn D’Costa of class VII welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Rev. Fr. Wilson Vitus D’Souza, Manager Lourdes Central School, Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza, Principal, Ms. Bleita Mascarenhas, Vice Principal, Konkani Sir Ivan Mascarenhas and students William D”Souza and Pramitha D’Souza of class 8. Suwin D’Souza of class VI highlighted the importance of Manyata Day. The President of the function Rev. Fr. Wilson Vitus D’Souza greeted all the students on the occasion of Konkani Manyata Divas and highlighted the importance of learning our mother tongue Konkani which is rich in culture. He also expressed that our mother tongue has its own beauty and we can express our love when we speak in Konkani. Principal Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza in his message congratulated all the students learning Konkani as third language. He also highlighted the importance of learning our mother tongue and to keep the culture and tradition alive. Over 84 students who are learning Konkani in class VI, VII and VIII were present for the programme. The Manager, Principal and Vice Principal gave away the prizes for the students who won in the Konkani Quiz Competition. A Konkani group dance was presented by the Konkani learning students of class VII. It was a day of joy for all the Konkani Learning students as they participated in the programme and won prizes. A sumptuous treat was given to the students. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Lester Fernandes of class VIII. Rolwin Pinto of class VIII compeered the programme under the guidance of Music and Konkani Sir Mr. Ivan Mascarenhas.
