On June 18th 2016, the students of class XI and XII had an orientation programme about the concept of learning with ease. The programme began with Ms. Rajeshwari Shetty giving a warm welcome to the guest speaker, Ms Lalitha G Mallya, making her feel welcome.
Soon after that Ms Mallya spoke about the concept of the art of learning and how to make learning easier. “College life is a bridge from the school life to the world of work” quoted Ms Mallya. She briefed us about the two goals we must have in our college life. One, you need to pass with the highest marks possible. Second, being that we must be ready to face the competitive exams. One must have a fiery determination and motivation that must be impervious to the social and the real world. Todd Moss once said that “We need to learn the art of learning”. We need to have a certain penchant towards a subject when we choose them; otherwise, all the work and studies turn tedious for our day to day life.
A highlight of the talk was the famous “SQ3R” method which stands for surveying, questioning and reading, reciting, reviewing. She enhanced our knowledge by saying that there are different learners; visual, auditory and hap tic learners who are unique in their own ways. But most importantly we must believe in ourselves and never give up. She briefed us about the distractions that we must avoid that demand more time and attention. Lastly we should have the determination and the desire to be hard working. With this entire topic creating a new perspective in our lives, a new chapter closing in our lives, our minds more open than before, another orientation successfully ended.
“Gratitude is the mother of all attitudes” The vote of thanks was given by Gavin Abner Pinto of class XI C. with the foreground being the Principal giving away a memento to Ms Mallya to cherish and reminisce.
