On the auspicious day, 26th January 2016 Lourdes Central School organized a short programme which began at 8.00a.m by invoking of God’s blessings through a prayer song. Mrs Belita Mascarenhas the Vice – Principal, delivered a crisp and a cordial welcome address and introduced the chief guest of the day Mr Rathnakar Rai, an eminent personality who had served the Indian Air force. Later Ashly Joby of Class X A spoke on the significance of the day which was intriguing. This was followed by a melodious patriotic song sung by choir group and the foot taping dance by the students of class X.
The chief guest Mr Rathnakar Rai emphasized that, We need to serve the nation with true spirit, honesty and Integrity and also that the children are nations greatest asset, hence they need to develop the feeling of patriotism.
Principal, Rev Fr Robert D’souza while addressing the students said that the citizens, should not only enjoy our rights but remember our duties and responsibilities. He added that we need to respect, and help each other in order to develop harmony. He also asserted that with human light and humanity the country can reach greater heights. Finally he congratulated the organizers.
The celebration concluded with Vote of Thanks. Indeed the programme made us reflect upon the ideals of democracy.
