Educator Empowerment Program and Jolly Phonics
The Catholic Board of Education, Mangalore guided by the Secretary Rev. Dr Praveen Leo Lasrado took the initiative in organising an Educator Empowerment Program and Jolly Phonics Seminar on the 12th of November 2024 for the Pre-Primary Teachers of all the schools encompassed by the Catholic Board of Education at Lourdes Central School, Mangalore.
The program commenced with a Prayer Song.
The Secretary Rev. Dr Praveen Leo Lasrado welcomed the dignitaries and the resource person. Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, Manager of Lourdes Central School inaugurated the program and also launched the new product Building Blocks of Sky Books in the presence of Mr M R Sudheer State Head of Sky Books and team members. In his inspiring message Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha encouraged the teachers to work as a team, continuously upgrade their skills and uplift each other. He emphasised the importance of collaboration and mutual support in working hand in hand for the betterment of the students.
Rev Fr Johnson L Sequeira, Principal Lourdes Central School graciously concluded the inaugural program with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts and contributions of all who made this event possible.
The seminar featured two insightful sessions:
- Creative techniques for a happy classroom, A to Z for behavioural management and Story time made innovative using different techniques by Ms Reshmi Praveen. This session provided innovative strategies to create a positive and engaging classroom environment along with comprehensive guidance on managing student behaviour effectively.
- Jolly Phonics by Prof Naina J Sequeira covering essential topics such as tricky words, blends, lesson plans and letter formation. This session aimed at enhancing phonics instruction to support literacy development.
Both the sessions enriched the participants understanding and equipped them with practical tools to support the students. The learning was further enhanced with ice breakers, games, songs and various interactive activities making the experiences both enjoyable and educational.
Sky Books sponsored scrumptious breakfast and lunch for the day. Rev Fr Johnson L Sequeira attended to every detail and ensured everyone felt at ease.
At the conclusion of the program Rev Fr Johnson L Sequeira honoured all the teachers by presenting them with certificates from the Catholic Board of Education recognizing their dedication and participation.
Rev. Dr Praveen Leo Lasrado expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all who travelled from both near and far to attend the sessions. The program was compered by Ms Jennifer Menezes.
All in all, it was a day filled with fruitful discussions, valuable learning and lively sessions.
