The Parent-Teacher Interactive Session of Class V was held on Friday, 14th February from 8:15 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the roof top auditorium of the school. The meeting commenced with a heartfelt prayer song performed by the school choir under the guidance of Mr Roshan Cordeiro.

Ms. Sunitha K, the Examination Coordinator, outlined the examination schedule and promotion criteria. She addressed discipline issues and the corresponding actions for misconduct. Emphasizing a stress-free approach to exams, she referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Pareeksha Pe Charcha,” encouraging students to view exams as a festival to be enjoyed.

Parents Queries and Suggestions:
-Sanskrit Teacher Availability: Parent expressed the need for a Sanskrit teacher and suggested scheduling Sanskrit classes during school hours instead of after. Principal Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira assured that this matter would be addressed in the upcoming year after discussions with the concerned authorities.
-Washroom Usage: Concerns were raised about overcrowding in washrooms, as each floor accommodates ten classes. The Principal responded that the allotted 15-minute breaks are sufficient for washroom use.
-School Bag Weight: A query about the heavy weight of school bags was discussed. The Principal noted that students often bring extra materials, including tuition books and additional items. He recommended carrying lunch boxes and water bottles separately. Vice Principal Mrs. Belita Mascarenhas said thatcopywriting is divided into two days for Kannada, two days for English, and two days for Hindi, with students writing three lines each in the classroom. The books are kept on the classroom rack to reduce the burden of the bag.
-Language Improvement: A parent suggested incorporating activities where students write original sentences during language periods. Language teachers responded that the current syllabus includes exercises like picture-based sentence writing and encourages creative expression.
-Weekly General Knowledge Review: A proposal was made to dedicate one period per week to review general knowledge topics from the past week. The Principal acknowledged that General Knowledge is part of the curriculum and agreed to implement this suggestion in the next academic year during the G.K. period.
Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira expressed gratitude to parents for their unwavering support, to teachers for their dedicated service, and to students for their cooperation, participation, exemplary behaviour, and commendable academic and co-scholastic achievements. He announced the inclusion of co-scholastic subject exams this year and a forthcoming summer camp featuring outdoor sports like handball, football, and volleyball. Enhancements to the canteen, such as a coupon system and improved food service, are planned for the next academic year. He encouraged students to practice speaking in Kannada and Hindi at home to enhance language skills and emphasized the importance of good behaviour. He concluded by urging everyone to celebrate and enjoy exams.
Vice Principal Ms Belita Mascarenhas encouraged students to prepare for competitive exams like NTSE, Great Olympiad, and Spell Bee by seeking knowledge beyond textbooks. She advocated moving away from rote learning and actively participating in school clubs.
The session was adeptly managed by Ms. Nishmitha Pinto, who extended a warm welcome and delivered the vote of thanks. The gathering concluded with the spirited singing of the School Anthem, fostering a sense of unity and school pride.
