Science Week 2024 – 25

The Department of Science at Lourdes Central School organized LCS Science Week 2024-25 from 6th to 10th January 2025, for students of classes I to VIII.
The aims and objectives of the week were to promote scientific thinking, develop problem-solving skills, enhance presentation and communication skills, and foster a scientific spirit and curiosity in students.
The Science Week was inaugurated on 6th January, 2025, during the morning assembly. Father Principal, Vice Principals, the Science Subject Coordinator, Science teachers along with the students symbolically inaugurated the project. The Principal addressed the students, emphasizing on the importance of science in everyday life and encouraging them to develop a love for the subject. Classes IV and VIII presented the topic “Artificial Intelligence in Everyday Life.”
Each day, different classes presented thought-provoking topics for the morning assembly.
– January 7: Class V highlighted “The Impact of Pollution on Our Planet and How We Can Make a Difference.”
– January 8: Classes II and VI explored “The Science of Food and Nutrition.”
– January 9: Class VII delved into “The Human Body: A Marvel of Nature.”
– January 10: Class IX presented the finale assembly on “The Science behind Everyday Gadgets,” accompanied by a captivating dance drama on climate change and its impact and concluded with a melodious song on pollution. The Principal appreciated and congratulated all the students and teachers for their efforts in making the Science Week a grand success.
A science exhibition was conducted on 8th January, 2025, where students from classes I and VIII showcased their creative and innovative projects. On the finale winners of the science exhibition were awarded with the certificates. The exhibition featured various activities:
– Class 1 and 2: Collage making competition on “Animals around Me”
– Class 3: Model making competition on “First-Aid Box”
– Class 4: Model making competition on topics like bridges, buildings, simple machines, and the solar system
– Class 5: Model making competition on “Creating Treasure from Trash”
– Class 6: “Unlock the Secrets of Your Textbook” – A DIY approach
– Class 7: Rangoli making competition on “Discover and Design Patterns”
– Class 8: Hands-on working models
The entire event was well-planned and executed by the Science Department, under the guidance of the Science Coordinator Ms Linet DSouza. The LCS Science Week 2024-25 was a resounding success, inspiring students to develop a deeper appreciation for science and its applications in everyday life.
