On July 26th, Lourdes Central School commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day that honors India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War of 1999. The celebration paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers who fought to protect the country’s sovereignty.
The students of Class 2A, guided by Ma’am Shanthi, conducted a special assembly to highlight the importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Students Hannah Lobo, Rithanya, and Dhruv presented key points about the Kargil War was sparked by Pakistan’s infiltration across the LoC in Kashmir in 1999, Indian Army’s Operation Vijay to reclaim occupied territory which were the primary factors leading to the war.
The presentation was depicted on various brave soldiers of our country, a monologue interview was delivered by Maven of class 8, followed by a song dedicated to the Kargil War heroes.
The Principal, Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira, emphasized the significance of the day, highlighting the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers to protect the country’s sovereignty. The celebration aimed to instill a sense of patriotism, selflessness and responsibility among students.
