Report on the Teachers’ Orientation Programme on 26.05.2026

26 May 2026, the second day of the orientation for the teachers, for the academic year 2026-27, was thoughtfully organized at LCS with the objective of equipping educators with knowledge, values, and practical strategies required for holistic student development and effective classroom engagement. The sessions conducted throughout the day focused on compassion, leadership, student welfare, general knowledge enhancement, and legal awareness in education, thereby enabling teachers to remain updated and responsive to the changing educational environment.
The first session was conducted by Fr Clifford Fernandes in the Conference Hall on the annual LCS theme, “Love, Compassion and Service”, which he has modified as “Care, Fair and Dare”. The session highlighted the significance of nurturing empathy, kindness, and service-mindedness within the school community. Teachers were reminded that education is not merely academic instruction but also the shaping of responsible and compassionate human beings. The session inspired educators to become role models who foster emotional and moral values in students. His humorous nature, lifelong anecdotes, and self-reflective questions inspired everyone in the hall to grow from probationary learners to proficient individuals.
This was followed by a training session on General Knowledge for Classes 1–8 by Ms Niharika Singh (Greycaps). The session was highly informative, well-structured, and engaging. The detailed explanation of the syllabus, effective guidance on the usage of the manual, and the clarity with which she addressed the teachers’ doubts greatly enhanced our understanding and confidence in implementing the curriculum effectively. The session also provided teachers with practical methods and engaging activities to strengthen GK learning in classrooms and prepare students to become informed and confident individuals
The next session on KG Syllabus was conducted by Mr Praveen H.M. The speaker elaborated on age-appropriate learning techniques aligning with NEP 2020 and the need to cultivate curiosity and observational skills among kindergarten students. Teachers gained clarity on designing meaningful and interactive learning experiences suited to young learners.
An enriching session on “Adolescent Issues and Ways to Tackle Them” was conducted by Fr Victor Dsouza for the high school staff, PE teachers and the counsellors. The session dealt with the emotional, psychological, and behavioural challenges faced by adolescents in today’s world. Teachers were guided on how to identify student concerns sensitively, build trust, and provide timely support and counselling. The discussion reinforced the role of teachers as mentors who can positively influence the lives of young learners during their formative years.
Session III focused on “Legal Aspects in Dealing with Students” and was once again conducted by Mr. Praveen H M at the Conference Hall. The session created awareness among teachers regarding student rights, child protection policies, school responsibilities, and professional ethics. It emphasized the need for educators to stay informed about legal frameworks and maintain safe, respectful, and disciplined learning environments.
All the sessions conducted during the orientation proved to be highly relevant and beneficial for teachers. They not only enhanced professional competence but also reinforced the importance of emotional intelligence, ethical practices, and updated teaching methodologies in shaping students into responsible and well-rounded individuals. Such orientation programmes help teachers remain informed about contemporary educational needs and empower them to effectively guide students both academically and personally.
Ms. Nishmitha, Ms. Andrea, Ms. Michelle, Ms. Swathi, Ms.Joshika warmly welcomed the resource persons and staff members and emphasized the importance of continuous learning and professional growth among educators.
Ms. Sowmya K, Ms. Kavya, Ms. Bindu, Ms. Megha K and Ms. Marula delivered Vote of Thanks expressing gratitude to the management, resource persons, organizers, and staff members for their valuable contributions toward the success of the orientation programme.
