Meeting of the Parent-Teacher Executive Committee 2025

The first meeting of the Parent-Teacher Executive Committee (PTEC) for the Academic Year 2025-26 was held on Friday, 13 June 2025, at 8:15 a.m. in the LCS Conference Hall. It was attended by Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, Chairperson; Rev. Fr Johnson L Sequeira, Principal and President; Vice Principal Ms Anita Thomas; and the elected members of the PTEC. The meeting began with a prayer song sung by the students’ choir. The Master of Ceremony, Ms Deepa Dsouza, invited Vice Principal Ms Anita Thomas to welcome the gathering.

Ms Linet Pereira, Secretary of the previous year’s committee, read out the minutes of the last meeting. The Principal, Rev. Fr Johnson L. Sequeira, provided a follow-up and approved the minutes.

The main agenda of the meeting was to elect the new office bearers of PTEC namely Vice President and Joint secretary among the parents’ representatives which was conducted by Rev. Fr Johnson L Sequeira, President of PTEC. Dr Rashmi DSouza volunteered to take on the role of Vice President, while Ms Gauri Baliga assumed the position of Joint Secretary.

In her address, Dr Rashmi DSouza, Vice President of PTEC, expressed her gratitude to the administration for their efforts. She acknowledged the concerns and suggestions of parents, assuring them that she would be their voice. Dr DSouza also appreciated the herculean task of managing the school.

Ms Gauri Baliga, Joint Secretary, thanked everyone and pledged to work tirelessly for the growth and development of the school.

The Chair-person, Fr Manager, Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha began his address by sharing a profound quote: “Excellence is the result of high intention, sincere effort and intelligent execution.” He expressed regret for starting on a sombre note, acknowledging the recent tragic events, including the loss of lives at various events across India. A minute’s silence was observed, followed by a prayer.

He then shifted his focus to the new academic year, highlighting the peaceful atmosphere on campus, despite having over 2,000 students. He attributed this to the leadership of Principal Rev. Fr Johnson L Sequeira.

Fr Manager outlined the various upgrades and renovations undertaken during the summer vacation, including:

– Renovation of the administrative block

– Upgradation of computer labs with new equipment

– Renovation of washrooms, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene

– Establishment of an innovation lab

– Collaboration with St Joseph’s Engineering College to train teachers on AI applications

He emphasized the importance of innovation, creativity, and progress, citing the introduction of interactive panels, increased bus services, and the new day-care facility.

Fr Manager also addressed concerns about child safety, ensuring that only registered parents or guardians can pick up children from school. He emphasized the importance of treating all children equally, without communal bias.

In conclusion, Fr Manager thanked the parents for their efforts and emphasized the challenge of maintaining a quality school. He acknowledged the able leadership of the Principal, Vice Principal, and faculty in making this possible.

Fr Principal, invited members to share their queries and suggestions, ensuring an open and transparent dialogue. He attentively addressed each concern, providing clarification and reassurance.

Ms Sunitha, Academic Coordinator of the Primary Section, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees for their active participation and valuable input.

The meeting concluded with a positive note, setting the tone for a productive and collaborative academic year followed by a group photo session, followed by refreshments, wrapping up at 9:15 a.m.
