A motivational talk was organised for class 6 students on the topic ‘Behavioural Changes’ addressed by Dr. Chandini working at Father Muller hospital –(Department of Psychiatry) on 10th Jan, 2025 in LCS conference hall at 9:00am. There were 162 students present for the talk along with teachers and Vice principal Ms. Belita Mascarenhas. The Event began with a prayer song sung by class 6D students followed by gracious welcome of resource person by class 6C student, an introduction of the resource person was given by Ma’am Seema.
The key takeaways addressed by the resource person is as below:
1. Transition to Teenage Years: The resource person explained the physical, emotional, and social changes that occur during early adolescence. She emphasized the importance of increased intellectual capacity with growth and the need for independence.
2. Physiological and Behavioral Changes: The speaker highlighted the development of physiological traits during adolescence and explained various behavioural problems that may arise during this phase.
3. Body Shaming and Bullying: The resource person defined body shaming, explained its effects, and provided ways to stop body shaming and overcome its impact. She also shared strategies to deal with bullying.
4. Healthy Habits:
The speaker emphasized the importance of reducing screen time and video gaming addiction. She discussed the negative effects of excessive screen time and gaming.
5. Life Lessons: Through movie clippings and interactive discussions, the resource person conveyed essential life lessons, including:
1. Believing in oneself
2. Not judging others by appearance
3. Dreaming big
4. Practicing discipline and respect
5. Taking care of oneself (physical and mental health)
6. Staying organized, healthy, kind, and tidy
7. Managing stress through breathing techniques
The life skills session was a valuable and enriching experience for our students. The resource person’s expertise and interactive approach empowered students with essential life skills, healthy habits, and positive values. We express our sincere gratitude to the resource person for her invaluable contribution to our students’ growth and development. By understanding and implementing effective strategies, educators and parents can work together to promote positive behaviour, improve academic outcomes and foster emotional wellbeing in students. Addressing behavioural challenges in students requires patience, empathy and commitment in creating safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
