NCC (ARMY WING) under the FSFS Policy-Orientation Session

“Discipline today, leadership tomorrow.”

An orientation session on the NCC (Army Wing) under the FSFS policy was conducted on 30th July 2025 at 8:15 am at the Rooftop auditorium for the students and parents of Class 8. The session began with a soulful prayer song. The distinguished resource persons Retired Lieutenant Colonel Gracian Sequeira and Honorary Naik Subedar N. B. Patil were warmly welcomed and introduced by the Principal, Fr Johnson L Sequeira who acknowledged their services and contribution. They were florally welcomed by Fr Arul, the Academic Coordinator for Classes 7 and 8. The purpose of the session was to create awareness among students and parents about the structure, benefits, and procedures involved in enrolling in the NCC Army Wing.

The session was led by Lt. Col. Gracian Sequeira, who began with a unique and engaging explanation of the benefits of clapping, emphasizing its role in energy, enthusiasm, and positivity followed by origin and evolution of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), highlighting its gradual transformation over the years. He elaborated on the personal benefits of joining NCC, such as improved discipline, overall personality grooming, better health and hygiene practices, and the development of leadership qualities. He also touched on external benefits like educational reservations and career advantages. The students were given insight into the various camps, adventurous activities, and opportunities like rifle shooting available to cadets. The enrolment process was explained in detail, including physical fitness tests and theoretical assessments, depending on the number of applicants. He also briefed the students about the grading system and the significance of the A, B, and C certificates in the NCC. The session concluded with an open floor for student questions, which the guest addressed patiently. A heartfelt vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Lavina Serrao lead teacher and the programme was compered by Ms Ashvija Mendonca.
