Spreading the Spirit of Onam
The morning of 1st September at Lourdes Central School came alive with the rhythmic beats of the chenda (traditional drumming), setting the perfect festive mood for the grand Onam celebration. The campus was filled with joy and excitement as students welcomed the legendary King Mahabali through vibrant dance and melodious song performances. The energy, colour, and spirit of Kerala’s most cherished festival beautifully unfolded, bringing together tradition, culture, and togetherness in a memorable celebration.
The master of the ceremony were Manuela, Basil, Shreehari, Shreerang and Amrutha. The programme began with the universal prayer followed by the prayer song in Malayalam. It was followed by the recitation of the preamble of our constitution.
The gathering was welcomed by Adarsh. Avani, Ashlyn and Diya mentioned about the significance of the auspicious occasion of Onam.
Assembly further progressed with the entry of Maveli (King Mahabali) with the chenda kottu(drumming). It was followed by the marvelous and mesmerising performance in the form of dance and song.
Birthday prayer was said by Sharvi for the students celebrating their birthday followed by birthday song. Father Principal addressed the students and staff with his knowledgeable speech during which he also mentioned the importance of Onam. The entire programme created a delightful festival mood in the school, making the occasion truly memorable. The whole programme was conducted under the guidance of Ms. Megha, co-class teacher of 11A.
The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Seanna and Asher. The assembly ended with the school anthem.
