Superannuation Ceremony 2026
Lourdes Central School marked a significant milestone in its institutional journey on 3 March 2026, as it gathered for the superannuation ceremony to celebrate the inspiring journeys of Ms. Vivita Olinda Florina D’Souza and Mrs. Vidhya Shyamala Joseph, acknowledging their steadfast commitment and invaluable contribution to the school community.
The programme commenced with a ceremonial and grand welcome marked by a dignified band salute The solemnity of the occasion deepened with a prayer service that included readings from the Holy Scriptures, prayer intentions offered for the retirees and the institution, and a melodious prayer song rendered by the students of Class VII. The spiritual invocation lent the celebration both grace and grounding.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the Manager, Rev. Dr. J. B. Saldanha; the Principal, Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira; Vice Principal Ms. Anita Thomas; members of the Parish Pastoral Council, Ms. Cynthia Avita Pinto and Mr. Nirmal D’Souza; representatives of the PTEC; alumni; parents; staff and the families of the retiring teachers.
In his welcome address, Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira described the day as one of “grateful celebration touched with gentle parting.” He acknowledged the invaluable contribution of both teachers — their discipline, integrity, clarity of purpose, and unwavering commitment to academic standards — affirming that their legacy would continue to guide the ethos of Lourdes Central School.
The citations, read with elegance and sincerity by Ms. Rekha Naveen for Ms. Vivita D’Souza and Ms. Gowri Ravi for Mrs. Vidhya Shyamala Joseph, traced their professional journeys with warmth and respect.
The felicitation ceremony that followed was marked by appreciation and gratitude to the retirees. Student representatives Nathan Figueira of Class VII and Evana D’Souza of Class X expressed gratitude on behalf of the student body, presenting a thoughtful artistic token to Ms. Vivita D’Souza. Alumni Dr. Ruben Lobo and Ms. Swathi Kamath shared memories shaped by guidance received years ago — a reminder that the influence of a teacher often reveals itself long after the lesson ends. Representatives of the PTEC offered their appreciation, while family members honoured the teachers for their years of professional dedication.
A moving musical tribute by the students added an emotional cadence to the afternoon, leaving many in reflective silence.
Responding on behalf of both honourees, Ms. Vivita D’Souza spoke with characteristic simplicity and depth. She recalled with gratitude the vision of the founder, Rev. Fr. Bernard D’Souza, and the leadership of the first Principal, Ms. Grace Noronha, acknowledging how their foresight shaped the institution they served. She expressed appreciation to colleagues, coordinators, and the present leadership for their cooperation and encouragement. Her words were measured yet deeply personal.
The Manager’s message reaffirmed the institution’s gratitude and wished the retirees peace, fulfilment, and continued purpose in the years ahead.
The formal vote of thanks presented by Ms Lynette Pereira expressed appreciation to all who contributed to the seamless organisation of the ceremony.
The programme concluded with the School Anthem, followed by a photo session.
