Junior Red Cross session on First Aid

A session on First Aid was conducted successfully in Lourdes Central School for the JRC students on 29th January 2026. The program began with a welcome by Abhiram. The session was anchored efficiently by Krupa Somanna.
The resource person for the day was Ms. Nithyshree B.V. she is the nodal officer of the youth red cross and assistant professor at Yenepoya Nursing Collage. She gave a detailed and informative presentation on the importance of first aid in emergency situations. She explained various basic first aid techniques in practical manner. Students were taught how to check the condition of an injured person and ensure safety, control bleeding using pressure and bandages, treat minor cuts, wounds, burns, and fractures, provide first aid for fainting, nosebleeds, and insects bits, handle chocking cases using proper methods.
Special attention was given to the importance of staying calm, observing the situation, and calling for help immediately. A live demonstration was conducted to help students understand the techniques clearly.
One of the most important parts of the program was CPR training. The resource person explained:
• When CPR should be given.
• The correct posture and hand position.
• The steps involved in chest compressions
The session was very interactive and practical. Students learned how to remain calm during emergencies and how to provide immediate care before professional medical help arrives. The training helps them understand the value of helping others and being responsible citizens. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ania.
