The Orientation Programme was organized from 7.45 am to 3pm for the newly inducted faculty members of LCS to familiarize them with the ethos, systems, and expectations of Lourdes Central School, and to foster bonding, clarity, and confidence before the academic year begins.
The day began on an energetic note with the ice-breaker ‘Meet, Treat, Greet & Recall’ conducted by the MC. New teachers — Shreyas, Asha, Vindhya, Melisha, Arun, Ananya, Artha, Athmica, Raina, Mamta, Sandhya, Hilda, Devina, and Roopa — were warmly welcomed into the LCS family. The activity successfully dissolved first-day stiffness, encouraged interaction, and set a tone of camaraderie.
A group photo session was conducted with all new faculty members along with the Management and Coordinators to mark the beginning of their LCS journey.
Rev. Fr Johnson L Sequeira, Principal, requested the gathering to assume a composed and calm posture and led a meditative prayer session, which concluded with the prayer song ‘Count Your Blessings’. Fr Principal then presented a detailed history of Lourdes Central School, highlighting its vision, mission, and legacy. He also candidly discussed the pros and cons of being an educator at Lourdes Central School, emphasizing commitment, discipline, and the joy of shaping young minds in the ‘Lourdes’s way’. His address blessed the day and set a reflective tone.
Fr Principal introduced the first resource person Ma’am Vidhya Joseph and addressed her as a perfectionist, disciplined and focused educator. Ma’am Vidhya delivered an inspirational talk on the topic ‘Every Child is Unique – What Type of Teacher Do I Need to Be’. Through stories and insights, she urged teachers to look beyond textbooks and recognize the individuality of each learner. Key Takeaway: “A teacher’s legacy should be beyond marks and classrooms.”
The session was deeply moving and well-received by all faculty members.
The day continued with structured sessions by key personnel: Ms Deepa Dsouza on Lourdes’ Education System Explaining the vision, values, and pedagogical approach of LCS.
Ms Anita Thomas, Vice Principal highlighted the LCS Rules and Regulations and provided clarity on institutional policies, ensuring confidence for the new academic year. Post-lunch, the session resumed with an engaging workshop on Language as a Teaching Tool by Prof. Dr. Arwin Rodrigues. Known for his discipline, global exposure, and empathetic teaching style, Prof. Arwin captivated the audience. His session empowered teachers with confidence in communication and reinforced the idea that “a teacher who stops learning, stops living.” His presence and methodology were highly appreciated by all.
The orientation session concluded after the new faculty members filled in the feedback forms. As a sweet gesture to end the day, an ice cream treat was arranged for all participants. A few teachers also happily volunteered to come forward and share their reflections, expressing how enriching and welcoming they found the day’s sessions.
