Great thoughts converted to practice will become great accomplishments.
The students of Lourdes Central School through their determination and creativity had put up a mesmerizing puppet show on 17 July 2015. The show was organized by the English Department for the students of class IX and X as a tool for formative assessment. It was an interdisciplinary activity involving subjects-English, Math, Life-Skills and Art. The competition was judged by two prominent and erudite personalities Mrs. Romona Mathais an entrepreneur and a theatre enthusiast and Mr. Francis Aranha a former IPS officer and a diplomat.
The aims of the puppet show competition are to give students an opportunity to
- Use English in a creative and motivating way;
- Experiment with script writing; and
- Learn about puppet design, puppetry technique and how to stage a puppet show.
The prelims’ were held on the 9th and 10th of July and students came up with various kinds of puppets like sock puppets, stick puppets, cloth puppets etc. The students used their creativity by using recycled materials.
The Principal Rev Fr.Robert D’souza motivated the students and wished them luck.
The Vice-Principal Mrs. Belita Mascarenhas and the judges advised the students on the do’s and don’t’s of the puppet show.
The puppet show was a true learning experience as every item sent across an inspirational message to the young learners.
Kudos to all the participants
