Motivational Talk by Mr Herold DSouza

On 16th October the Lourdites of class X were privileged to listen and interact with Mr Herold DSouza a global Citizen, Survivor Advocate and Public Speaker on prevention of Human Trafficking.  He is also a recipient of two international awards conferred on him by the United Nations. (Human Rights Hero 2023 and Human Rights Trailblazer award  

He is also the recipient of “Rastra Prerna Award’ which was conferred to him by the Indian Government. He is the co-founder of “Eyes Open International” a non profitable organization dedicated for prevention of human trafficking. Our students were fortunate to communicate with such a renowned personality.

The session began with invoking of God’s blessings through the universal prayer, followed by welcoming the guests. The Vice Principal Mrs Belita Mascarenhass introduced the guest speaker and welcomed him. She also welcomed the Principal Rev Fr Johnson Sequeira. The resource person spoke of his struggles as a debt survivor and later he gave a brief account of how he survived his ordeal by his indomitable spirit, resilience and hope for the future. His motto “Nothing is Impossible when one remains steadfast in the mission” echoed loud and clear in his talk. His four pillars of success i.e good values, good character, good education and focus on your goal is important to achieve something in life. He also stressed that a short term gain is a long term pain and he stressed that one must not be always be pleasure seeking and self gratifying He reiterated that students must love and respect their Parents and Teachers and always believe in themselves that they achieve their goal.

He encouraged the students to join E.O.I to help and fight against human trafficking. He said that students who are members of E.O.I stand a higher chance in securing a seat in the USA universities for higher studies. Later he answered the queries asked by the students and a few lucky students were presented with’ proof coins’ as mementoes. Ms Deepa DSouza the English Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks. Overall the session was motivating and it inspired the students to never lose hope but believe in faith and not in fate.
