Manager’s Message
Shalom! Peace be with you all.
I have joined Lourdes Central School, Bejai, as Manager on 30th August 2020. I am deeply touched, delighted and honoured to know that Lourdes Central School, Bejai, is the leading school in our vicinity and one of the prominent schools in CBSE family of schools.
‘Peace through Knowledge’ is the motto of our school. It is through education and knowledge we can promote peace and harmony in our society. Education helps to gain knowledge and knowledge is a powerful tool to promote peace. Knowledge gained through education gives self-confidence and it gives strength to pursue goals of life. Education and integral formation makes every child responsible and prepares to live in the society with understanding, peace and tolerance. It helps to build empathy and understanding towards all sections of people.
In India today we need to promote communal harmony and peace. Every school in our country has a responsibility to form responsible citizens who work for nation building and establishment of peace. Right from early stages of education, we need to close all doors that divide us and at the same time open wide the door that unite us despite our diversities. This kind of positive attitude will certainly promote peace in our society and community.
As I take charge as manager of this esteemed institution, I would like to place on records the hard drudgery of managers and principals who served Lourdes Central School.
Let me begin with the managers of the Lourdes Central School. Late Rev. Fr Bernard D’Souza (Manager 1999-2003), the founder of Lourdes Central School was an educationist as well as a visionary. He had a desire to start modern educational institution here in Bejai. Despite all odds he started the affiliation process for Lourdes Central School in 1999. Under his dynamic leadership the school rose to newer heights.
Late Rev. Fr Joseph Peter Tauro (Manager 2003-2010) provided KG block and canteen to the school. He completed the process of affiliation.
Rev. Fr Victor Machado (Manager 2010-2014) equipped the audio-visual room with latest technology and started the research centre to equip teachers with new skills in teaching learning process.
Rev. Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza (Manager 2014-2020) focussed on all round development of the school. He provided the school with a rooftop auditorium, purchased 32 cents of property for the school, organised regular staff trainings etc.
The Principals who served here joined hands with the managers in transforming the school as an academy of educational excellence. Ms Grace Noronha (Principal 1999-2011) the founder principal being an academician gave a firm foundation and right orientation during the early years of the establishment of the school. Rev. Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves (Principal 2011-2013) worked hard to impart quality education. Rev. Fr Michael Lobo (Principal 2013-2015) contributed to better equip the teachers with manifold teaching skills to bring out the best from every child.
Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza (Principal since 2015) has contributed for the all-round development of Lourdes Central School. Under his able guidance the school has gained unique position in imparting quality education. All these capable leaders have made Lourdes Central School a leading educational institution in every respect. We ever remain grateful to them.
Why educate your child in Lourdes Central School? Our aim here is not merely to impart knowledge through education. We want every student to gain right perspective of life. We like to focus on broadening of the horizons through creative learning. We wish to help our students in gaining insights to the very purpose of life and thereby focus on giving meaning, happiness and stability to life. By imparting quality education we wish to make this world a safer place to live with equality, justice, peace and harmony. Along with quality education we wish to focus on all-round growth of every child that enters the portals of Lourdes Central School. We like to set standards rooted in value based education that makes our students responsible citizens and accountable leaders who can uplift the entire society to newer heights with a renewed vision. In one word, we wish that our students learn to live in true freedom and truth free from every sort of fear and discord.
Let me conclude my message with a poem of Rabindranath Tagore “Let My Country Awake.” Originally it was published in Bengali language in 1910 and now found in the collection ‘Gitanjali’ by Tagore.
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action –
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
With every good wish,
I remain,
