THROWBALL TOURNAMENT – REPORT

“Sports can refresh the mind and body, can make us more energetic and experience team spirit”.

The morning of 22nd of August 2014 had finally broken. The air crackled with the the anxiousness, anticipation and excitement of what was to come. The grounds of Lourdes Central School lay all decked up and ready for the much awaited AICS Throwball Tournament of the year 2014-15. The Chief Guest of the day was Ms Mabel Victoria Menezes, a National Throwball Player. The Guest of Honour was Mr Nirmal D’Souza, the Vice President of Bejai Parish Pastoral Parishad. At the stroke of 9 in the morning the twenty teams assembled for the inauguration ceremony.
The programme began with the singers of the LCS choir leading us in prayer. This was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by our dynamic Vice-Principal Ms Belita Mascarenhas. The lamp was then lit by the dignitaries on the dais who then proceeded to the Throwball Court for the formal inaugrationof the tournament. Ms Mabel Menezes did indeed motivate the participants with her outstanding spirit towards the game of throwballand said Talent wins Games, but Team work and intelligence win championship.Mr Nirmal D’Souzathen delivered the presidential address and gave a very important message that the will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your potential are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.

A big round of applause to the organizers, volunteers, participants and Teaching and non-teaching staff of LCS of the day for the wonderful co-ordination, co-operation and commitment shown to ensure the programme was a grand success.

The inaugural ceremony was concluded with the Vote of thanks proposed by our efficient P E Teacher Mr Veerendra Alva.

The AICS Throwball Tournament then began after a great start. It was truly a wonder to see the talented Sportspersons from different schools potraying their vivid abilities.

It is said that all good things must come to an end. After an exciting and healthy competition between the different Throwball Teams, the time had come to conclude the competition and call it a day. The Valedictory Ceremony began at 3:15pm. The dignitaries on the dais were our very own Manager Rev Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza, the Principal Rev Fr Michael Lobo and Vice-Principal MsBelitaMascarenhas.

The champions of the day Sharada Vidyaniketan, Talapadi were awarded for their outstanding win. The Runners-up of the match SharadaVidyalaya, Kodialbail were honoured too by the dignitaries. The Best Thrower Award was awarded to Ms Shifal Sudhir of Sharada Vidyalaya, Kodialbail ; The Best Receiver Award was given to Ms Joshila of SharadaVidyaniketan, Talapadi. The Title of Best All-rounder of the day was give to the very efficient competitive Akanksha of SharadaVidyaniketan, Talapadi. There were many people who were responsible for making the Throwball Tournament a success, especially the Officials at each Court. LCS honoured them too with a small token of gratitude. The Manager and Principal congratulated and wished the winners well. The programme ended with the Vote of thanks proposed by our proficient P E Teacher Ms Anita Pinto followed by the National Anthem
