The Annual Sports Meet of Lourdes Central School was held on 30th November 2015 at Mangala Stadium .The inaugural programme commenced with the school choir singing the prayer song invoking God’s blessing. The chief guest of the day Mr. A Taranath Shetty –Assistant Manager, Corporation Bank and a National level athlete and weight lifter, along with the other dignitaries received the salute during the parade. The guests of honour present were Mr. Lanslotte Pinto-Ex deputy Mayor Mangalore City Corporation and corporator of Bejai ward and Mr Manjappa Executive Engineer- MESCOM.
During the flag raising ceremony worthy sports persons Pratvik Samani, Sougandh, Nithin D’sa and Prateek Rao were the flag bearers. President of the function, our school Manager Rev. Fr Wilson L Vitus D’Souza raised the flag followed by the school anthem.
Vice Principal Ms Belita Mascarenhas delivered the welcome address. She welcomed the dignitaries present on the dais, parents, staff and students of LCS.
The sports torch- symbol of harmony and goodwill was carried by worthy sports persons Tusya Megan, Gautham Naik, Muneer, Prathvi Pai and Amogh Shetty. The chief guest received the torch and declared the sports meet open.
During the oath taking ceremony Sports minister Roshni Shetty recited the pledge. This was followed by a spectacular Mass drill display by LCS students of Opal house, Coral house, Jade house, Amber house and students of classes 11 and 12.House system song was sung by the students melodiously.
During the felicitation ceremony Tusya Megan, Prathvi Pai, Muneer, Gautham and Amogh Shetty were honoured by Rev. Fr Wilson Vitus L D’Souza and the esteemed guests.
The Chief Guest during his address stated that he was happy to be at the inaugural ceremony of LCS .Opportunity should be given to the trainers to pick athletes, give proper training and produce good athletes in society. Sports is an important extracurricular activity, it releases mental tension, improves personality and develops public relationship. Everyday children should spare time for sports. He wished all the students good luck and thanked the management.
The President of the function Fr Manager in his Presidential address congratulated the organizers and the students. He said that sports is an important activity and education itself .It develops all round development of the body, mind and soul. Importance should be given to games and sports. It builds fine physic and develops energy to learners to learn lessons, helps to build team spirit. He also said winners win, winners lose and winners play. Healthy competitions rule the mind to reach mark of excellence. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr Veerendra Alva.
Various sports events like 100m race, 200m race, 400m race, 800m race and 4X100m relay were witnessed. Winners were awarded with certificates and medals.
During the valedictory ceremony the school choir began the programme by singing a prayer song and invoking God’s blessing. Ms Gretta Menezes delivered the welcome address. She welcomed the Principal Rev. Fr Robert D’souza, Vice Principal Ms Belita Mascarenhas, parents, staff and students.
The Principal in his address thanked convenors, staff of LCS, all Lourdites, parent community and all present. Vice Principal awarded the individual championships tropies.

Fr Principal awarded the shield to the winning house team-the Opal house and runners up team the Amber house.
Mr Vishwanath Devadiga proposed the Vote of thanks.The programme convenors were Mr Veerendra and Mr. Vishwanath Devadiga.The whole programme was compered by Ms Deepa D’souza.
The lowering of the school flag which marks the end of the closing ceremony was done ceremoniously in the presence of the Principal and the Vice Principal. The programme concluded by singing the National Anthem.
