‘Forte’ Global Music Carnival , 14 November 2014.

‘FORTE’, The Global Music Carnival, a unique musical and dance concert was held on Friday, 14th November 2014, organized by Lourdes Central School in the School Grounds. The Concert with the theme ‘ East Meets West ‘  rendered by the students , ex-students, teachers  and parents took off with a prayer song. Among the esteemed and erudite guests were The Bishop of Mangalore, Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza , Secretary of The Catholic Board of Education Rev Fr Jerald D’Souza, Ms Yajna Shetty a celebrity guest , Rev Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza-Manager LCS, Mr Nirmal D’Souza – Parish Parishad Vice-President  Bejai, Rev Fr Michael Lobo- Principal LCS, Ms Gayathri Shetty- PTEC Vice-President , Ms Belita Mascarenhas – Vice Principal , Ms Lydia D’Souza- KG Coordinator, Ms Apoline Lobo-Primary Coordinator, Ms Violet D’Souza – Senior Secondary Coordinator (convenor).

The manager Rev Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza welcomed the guest and mentioned that  Lourdes Central school not only concentrates on academics but also on all-round development of its students. He expressed his joy, about the school having spread its wings in a flight going globally through the ISA project and global school partnership  with Torrington Blue Coat School, Barnstaple, England.

The Principal Rev Fr Michael Lobo specially thanked the children for their prayers and wished them a Happy Children’s Day . He  introduced the guest of honor Ms Yajna Shetty , a famous kannada film actress . The Bishop of Mangalore Most Rev Aloysius Paul D’Souza honored Ms Yajna Shetty and the Manager   LCS honored the Bishop and the CBE secretary Rev Fr Jerald D’Souza.

Most Rev Aloysius Paul D’Souza expressed his gratitude to the management and parents for having maintained the standard of the school. He lauded the Principal Rev Fr Michael Lobo and the school for having global connections and instilling good values in their students. The Bishop acknowledged the services of the founder Late Rev Fr Bernard D’Souza , Pioneer Principal Ms Grace Noronha and the former Principal Rev Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves.

The secretary CBE Rev Fr Jerald D’Souza appreciated the school for this wonderful programme and congratulated the Manager, Principal , staff and the students. The Bishop inaugurated The Global Music Carnival releasing the globe containing the musical instruments.

The magnificent stage set-up of a ship created  an ambiance that literally  steered the audience through the voyage  of global music and dance ; it set a  great aura for the music lovers to enjoy the music .

As soon as the Global Music Carnival was declared open at 3:30 p.m, there was a loud cheer and students with their parents could not wait  get to the stalls looking for fun games, mouthwatering eateries and a family photo contest. Many of the students were also posing for a selfie with their favouriteDisney Characters.  The mood of the carnival soon built in with loud music and a game of Housie -Housie.

The Global Music Carnival staged music from many exploring music around the world.
 Classical Kathak
The cultural event kicked off to a breathtaking classical Kathak Dance performed by the students of classes  VI to XII.
 Teachers and Parents song
A feeling of dejavou swept in when the famous retro music was sung by our beloved teachers and parents.
 Ex-students Dance & a song
Our Alumni’s made our Carnival rich by bringing the most modern dance  to the floor and their melodious song was indeed a cherry on the top.
 African Tribal Dance
A lot of roar and thunder set in when the African forest was brought before the audience with a tribal dance following the tune in sink and tapping their feet singing aloud ‘ojha-re-ojha’.

 Eastern – Western Song
A fantabulous remix of Eastern and Western song from class  X  students who were also the winners of the Interschool Music Competitions left the stage rocking.
 Russian Ballet
The Ballerina’s  of classes  III to V with baby pink costumes and their sparkling performance lit up the stage like a million stars dancing in the sky.
 Comedy
A comedy act by Parent’s and Teacher’s and a stand up mono act on “Journey by Bus’ by Gita Kishore managed to bring the audience fall off their seats with heavy laughter.
 Teachers Dance
An electrifying fusion dance from teachers brought out the very essence of cultural diversity.
Srilankan Number
The Srilankan Baila Dance was spectacular and thrilled the crowds who gathered with necks craned to watch.
Kalanjali
In the potpourie of Dance drama – Kalanjali, the Interschool prize winning students of class X danced  with costumes of bright hues bringing out a strong message of protecting the ‘Girl Child’
 Western Song
Tiala Rego and Rhea Benny presented a western song  – duet which received a huge applause.

Lawani Dance
Sandal wood Child Artiste Saptha from class  III B  was a firecracker with her scintillating Lawani dance.

Spanish Dance
Perfectly sychronised display of Spanish dance was a sight to behold.

Comedy

The hilarious comedy staged by Vernon  Rodrigues  of  class XII and team projected the realities  students face in their lives.

Arabic number
The Arabian Nights magic was re-created by our students when they performed to a beautiful instrumental piece flashing the beats of traditional Arabic Music.

Parents Dance
The graceful Eastern Dance performed by the parents was a tribute to women which received a thunderous applause.

Accapella
Students of classes X and  XII sang  Accapella which gave the carnival a unique feeling like never before.

Hip-hop Dance
Our stage saw a lot of budding choreographers and dancers when the students of classes  VI to XI  performed to a well styled hip hop beat.

Prize Winning Dance
Winners of the Intra School Dance Competition from classes  I to X performed  a fusion of Duet, Trio and Group  style which transformed the stage  with their vibrant dance movements.

School Orchestra
The audience were enthralled with the dashing music delivered by the school orchestra.

Honoring the Donors & Sponsors
For all the  generous  donations given by our dear parents , they were honored by the CBE Secretary Rev Fr Jerald D’Souza.

Music Carnival Song
The Carnival came to a halt with a big bang and a loud cheer, bursting of crackers , fireworks in the sky and the teachers taking stage with the students and participating  in the ‘Global Music Carnival’ theme song .

Ms Melita Sequeira very beautifully compered the Global Music Carnival 2014.
