“Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a longtime ago”
On 04 July, 2016, LCS celebrated Vanamahotsava during the School Assembly to enlighten the students about the festival. It commenced with a serene prayer song thanking God for the beautiful nature around us. The Programme was compered by Ananya of class IX B.
Aajna M.D. of class IX B emphasized the significance of day.
The L.C.S choir group sang a melodious song on ‘Save trees’. To show their solidarity towards conserving and preserving nature, students of class VI exhibited placards and read out the slogans written on them. ‘Let’s go green, as it makes the Environment clean’. ‘Save the Nature to save the Future’. Students of Class IX enacted a skit to showcase the importance of trees.
On the occasion of Vanamahotsva, the Vice Principal, Mrs Belita Mascarenhas planted a sapling in a pot. In her address, she reminded the duty of each and every student in conserving nature and preserving it for better use. She enlightened the students about Bhutan being the world’s only country known for its Carbon Negativity Environment protection. She further added that in January 2015, a team of 100 volunteers planted 49,600 trees in on hour, setting a record for being the first and the only country in the world to take such measures. She appreciated the organizers Ms Harshith and Ms Sreelatha for taking keen interest in celebrating Vanamahotsava. She thanked the students for putting up charts in the classrooms and decorating the Bulletin boards with the guidance of art Sir Mr Thyagraj.
The progamme concluded with the school Anthem.
To add vigour to Vanamahotsava and make the environment greener our Principal Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza , Vice Principal, along with the Cabinet members planted saplings in the school campus on 7th July 2016.
