LIVE GREEN SAVE GREEN-28/07/2019
We the people of Karnataka, usually experience the monsoon showers from the mid of May or first week of June every year. But this year, with its late arrival and scarcity of rains, people genuinely felt the need for nurturing plants and trees and preserving water for future need through rain water harvesting.
Here, we can ponder on the quote by Laura Ingalls Wilder which says thus “If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere”.
To inculcate the importance of growing plants and trees in the minds of tiny tots, a project named “Save green-Save life” was initiated at Lourdes Central School, Kindergarten section. Through this project, an effort has been made to highlight the importance of growing plants and trees around us.
In connection with this, a colouring competition for class KG1and fancy dress competition on nature for class KG2 was held on July 12th, 2019.
The finale of the project was organised on July 27th, 2019. The students participated in the programme with zeal and enthusiasm. The winners of the competitions were honoured by our principal, Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza. He gave a message on this occasion wherein he stressed the need for growing plants and trees and saving water for a better tomorrow. He also said that we have to save our mother nature and keep our environment clean and free of plastic. He also concluded by saying that plants and animals can survive without human beings but human beings cannot live without plants and animals. He planted a sapling and set an example for the tiny tots to have an inclination towards growing plants and trees.
To support this initiative, a few parents along with the students, teaching and non-teaching staff were present on this occasion.
The programme concluded with children singing songs on Nature.
Ms. Lavita and Ms. Grace Roche were in charge of this programme.
