“The environment is where we all meet; where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share.”           -Lady Bird Johnson
The Earth will not continue to offer its harvest, except with faithful stewardship. We cannot say we love the land and then take steps to destroy it for use by future generations. We cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around us. What we do makes a difference and we have to decide what kind of a difference we want to make. Keeping this in mind the young crusaders of greener environment- the students of Lourdes Central School put every effort to bring out the theme of saving the environment through various programmes presented on the annual day of Lourdes Central School.

Students of class 6, who presented the theme “Each one Plant one” derived inspiration from environmental activist Greta Thunberg. The cycle of life is in jeopardy from humanity’s overuse of natural resources and damage to the ecosystem. This was showcased through dance drama by the students of class 7. Students of class 8 depicted the past, present and future of the earth, if we don’t initiate a positive change. Students of class 9 presented enticing performance in Hindi ‘Jal hai tho Jeevan Hai “about the necessity and possible ways of water conservation. Give Trees a lot of Care, so you can breathe Fresh Air. This theme was enacted by the students of class 10. The students of class 11 beautifully depicted “A Tree-felled Symphony, a topic on forest conservation.  Forests are among the top natural resources given to mankind. They provide us with both tangible and intangible resources without which the existence of many living things would be threatened. The young and creative students of class 12 took the audience to the fairy land where maleficent spells a curse to waste water which is then reversed by the fairy godmother. This reminded us of our role in conserving water and being the godmother for the earth.

The Annual Day Programme of our school has indeed immensely enriched and inspired everyone to do their best in protecting nature. Save Mother Earth is the popular slogan that creates awareness about saving the Earth from destruction. We all know that Earth is the only planet that has life on it.

As of now, it is clear that this planet has been a gift for us humans and other living things that have all the facilities we need, naturally. From air to water to food, everything is provided to us by Earth and thus we call it Mother Earth.

“The ultimate test of man’s conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard.”                                                                      Gaylord Nelson
Ms. Belita Mascarenhas, the Vice Principal rendered the vote of thanks.

The programme was well compered by Arti Rego, Nathan Thomas, Alka Sequiera Heba Basheer, Mohammed Naved , Rion walder, K Annapoorna Prabhu and  Kate Pereira,
