“We won’t have a society if we destroy the environment.”


Lourdes Central School organized a talk for the students of Class IX on the topic “Awareness on Environment” in the A V Room at 8.00am. The programme began with the Universal Prayer. Janvi Hegde welcomed the gathering. The dignitaries included the Principal Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza, the Vice Principal Mrs Belita Mascarenhas, the Resource Person Mr M Dinesh Nayak who is a nature lover and photographer, and Mr Prasad his companion.


The Resource Person who is the President of Sasyashyamala, Dakshina Kannada District enlightened the students on different types of plants such as wild fig, yellow silk cotton, iron wood tree, jamun, banyan tree, Ashoka tree, curry leaves etc. He highlighted on ‘holledasaval’ a flower which is the pride of India,  the queen of all flowers and is the state flower of Maharashtra. He spoke on the importance of nature and how man disparages it. He stressed on the features of plants and their habitat. He concluded by expressing his views and opinions regarding nature and its existence.


The vote of thanks was delivered by Rishal Pinto. The programme was compered by Nidhi Noronha and headed by Ms Harshitha Shetty of Eco Club.
