Independence week 2022 -Documentation

15th of August 1947, was such an auspicious day for all the Indians and has been written in golden letters in the world history. This day marks the independence of India from the British.

The year 2022 is the platinum jubilee of Indian independence and Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the 75th Independence Day of India was celebrated across the country with great pomp and show. Several events were organized under the initiative of the Central Govt.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – was uniquely observed in LCS. The planning and preparation had started well in advance under able leadership of Ms. Lolita Mascarenhas and Ms. Arun Pereira. The classrooms were decorated and the children of each class enthusiastically prepared the badges and proudly wore them from 12th to 15th of August.

The unique feature was, organizing the programme for the parents like Patriotic Décor, Har Ghar Tiranga and family togetherness. The icing on the cake was the online singing competition with family to all the Lourdite parents. The parents enthusiastically participated in the competition.

The inaugural assembly was conducted on the 10th of August by the Cabinet members and was inaugurated by Fr. Principal.the attraction of the day was the news bulletin where the cabinet members enacted as the journalists and spoke about the milestones that has been achieved by India in the past 75 years and the challenges to be faced in the coming years.

The next two assemblies conducted on the 11th and 12th of August were directed towards Patriotic fervour. Through the melodious songs, the Lourdites made any attempt to instil the spirit of Patriotism among the fellow Lourdites.

The assembly conducted on the 13th of August spoke about the importance of the series of the activities organized on the behalf of 75th Independence.

Plethora of competitions were arranged for the students of each class.

The finale assembly was on the 15th of August. The students and teachers assembled at the school ground around 7:30 AM. A fragrance of festivity was felt in the air. The Independence Day program commenced at 8:00 AM. The manager of LCS Rev Dr John Baptist Saldhanha presided over the programme. The dignitaries who accompanied him were – The Principal Rev Fr Robert D’souza, Asst Parish Priest Fr Suraj Lobo, The President and Secretary of Bejai Parish Pastoral Parishad, Mr. Ashok Pinto and Ms Preeti Gomes. Many parents witnessed the program.

The school Choir marked the beginning of the program with the prayer song followed by the welcome speech. The most awaited event – the flag hosting was performed by the manager. The students spoke about the significant of the day. It was followed by the presidential address. The program wound with a vote of thanks.

The winners of various competitions were felicitated on the 16th of August during the morning Assembly.
