LCS Library Week

“You can’t buy happiness but you can buy books and that’s kind of the same thing”.

The “LCS Library Week” was celebrated from 18th to 22nd November 2019, an occasion created with the hope of reigniting the passion for reading in young minds. The week started off with an assembly on Monday which had Jagrithi Shetty of Class 10 talking about the importance of books in our lives.

Principal Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza along with Vice Principal Ms Belita Mascarenhas, Librarians Ms Nandini and Ms Lavina Crasta inaugurated the event in the morning assembly.

This week was filled with numerous activities that helped the students realise the various joys of reading.

A variety of competitions were held too. For classes 4 and 5 Book mark making, Book cover making for class 6, poster making for class 7, essay writing for class 8 and 9, for classes 10, 11 and 12 was a book review writing competition. The winning bookmarks, covers, posters, essays and reviews were put up for displayed in the school lobby bulletin board.

On Friday, was the finale of the library week, which was a colourful and vibrant event. It started off with the prayer and an adorable performance by the students of class 5 reciting the library poem. A dance was performed by the students of class 8 that was a visual treat. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition that took place during the week.

Fr Principal, in his address thanked and congratulated the librarians for making the Library Week meaningful and for conducting various literary competitions. He further advised students to make good use of the library and enhance their knowledge. Daanah Salam compared the programme.

All in all, LCS Library Week was a very successful event that made all of us realise that sometimes all that you need is a book.
