Preparing to reopen school – A Talk by Dr Paul G Aquinas
In order to boost the morale and to prepare students to attend offline classes and exams, a virtual session was organised by Lourdes Central School for the students and parents of classes XI and XII along with the staff. The session was held on Zoom platform on 07.09.2021 at 10:00 am. The resource person was Dr Paul G Aquinas, Professor and Chairman Post Graduate Department of Studies and research in Social Work, Mangalore University, Mangala gangothri. He is a prolific writer, corporate trainer and has over 25 years of Post graduate teaching experience.
Ms SharmilaColaco introduced the guest speaker and welcomed everyone.
Dr Aquinas motivated the participants by saying that it’s not important where we are today, but it’s more important where we reach. The impact of the pandemic may be lifelong for some children. Children may find it exciting or frightening to go back to school. Dr Aquinas gave the parents many tips on how to prepare their wards to go back to school. He also advised the students and motivated them saying that ‘When the going gets tough, the tough get going.’ Students were advised to limit social media and news consumption. They need to be kind, be calm, be safe and be brave. He advised students to be kinder, gentler and more patient with themselves and others.
The session ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms Anita Thomas. Ms Shreelatha P V coordinated the session.
