Project Exhibition and TechNova at St Joseph Engineering College
On 18th June, 2022, the science students of classes 11 and 12 of Lourdes Central School, Mangaluru attended an exhibition organised by St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru (SJEC). The students left the LCS campus in bus at around 9:45 a.m. and returned by 12:00 p.m. We were accompanied by our teachers Mr. Girish, Ms. Roshini Jose and Ms. Sharmila Colaco. At the exhibition, there were a plethora of still and working models on exhibit based on fields like mechanics, computer science, electronics, communication and civil engineering. Few of the models on display included smart lamp, wooden calendar, sanitizer dispenser, etc. We were also shown some technical machinery like 3D Printers, Laser Cutting Machine, CNC Wood Cutter, etc. Different projects such as Smart Walker(an aid to visually challenged people), Classification of Insulators based on Image Processing, Effect of Artificial Light on Plant Cultivation, Arecanut Tree Climber and Pesticides Spray were presented and explained. The college students and faculty were friendly and knowledgeable . The campus was well-maintained, co-existing with greenery and modern structures. All the students found the exposure an enlightening experience worth having. It propelled us more towards the field of engineering and introduced us to various ideas in applying the science we learn at our schools. The students were thankful to SJEC and LCS for providing them with this golden opportunity.
