Teachers Day Celebration 2021
“When we think we know, we cease to learn” –Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
The teacher’s day programme was organised by Lourdes Central School for their teachers as well as the teachers of Bejai Parish. The programme began with a prayer songsung by the teachers of LCS followed by Prayer service conducted by the Assistant Parish Priests of Bejai Church, Rev. Fr. Suraj Lobo, Dr Vincent Sequiera and Deacon Anush D’Cunha. They lead the gathering through a devotional prayer service which created an ambience of prayer and divine aura.
Rev. RobertDsouza Principal Lourdes Central School welcomed the dignitaries, The Chief Guest Very Rev. Dr. Joseph Martis, professor St. Joseph’s Seminary Jeppu, Rev. Dr. John Baptist Sadhana Manager and president of the function Lourdes Central School, Rev Dr. Vincent Sequeira Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Suraj Lobo, Deacon Anush D’Cunha , Mr Ashok Pinto Vice – President, Mrs. Preethi Gomes Secretary, Bejai Parish Pastoral Parishad, the Vice – Principal Ms. Belita Mascarenhas, Sr. Severine Crasta, Superior St. Angela Convent Sr. Neena ,Superior St. Pauline Convent, Sr.Leena, Headmistress, Lourdes High School, Mrs Jacinta Vas Headmistress , St. Xavier Primary School,Members of management Committee, and all the teachers. He said once a teacher is always a teacher and related tothe ideas of the great icon Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and that teachers need to fulfil the dreams of this great personality.
Ms Francisca Dsouza highlighted the significance of the day, that 5TH September is the Birthday of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was the first Vice – President of India and also a highly- respected teacher, philosopher and prolific statesman. This day iscelebrated as the Teachers Day all over the country. A floral tribute was offered by the dignitaries to this icon as a mark of respect and honour.
Ms Lavina Castelino highlighted the significance of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary which will be celebrated on 8th September as a harvest festival amongst the Christiancommunity. This was followed by the melodious rendition by LCS teachers led by Roshan Cordeiro was a treat to the ears.
On this occasion Ms Deepa Dsouza and Shaila Pereira were appreciated for being resource persons for the AICS Accelerator – A Series of subject related workshops on English: Competencies and Experiential Learning. Ms Apoline Lobo, Ms Shanti Menezes, Ms Suneetha K, Ms Linet Dsouza were also awarded for successfully completing their graded examination in spoken English – Grade 6 conducted by Trinity, London.
Rev. Dr. John Baptist Sadhana Manager Lourdes Central School, the president of the functionshared his views and said that teachers can make a difference so they need to be resilient and sensitive to the needs of the students, He emphasized that its proud moment for the school when children achieve success and reach greater heights, he also gave the example of a student Sparsha Rai who has been selected for Karnataka State Cricket Association Senior Women’s Cricket Team -2021. He said that school is not for just for elite but also takes pride in the achievement of all the students irrespective of their background.
The Chief Guest Very Rev. Dr Joseph Martis while addressing the gathering through his thrilling moral -based stories said that teachers need to be lively, enthusiastic, and motivating. In the present scenario the teaching profession is quite challenging we need to come up to the expectations and that is possible when we work as a team and be united. He said that it is divine vocation and explained that we need to be superior teachers and inspire others.
The programme concluded with the words of gratitude expressed by Ms. Suneetha K. Grace before meals was said by the Deacon Anush Dcunha. Ma’am Vivita Dsouza compered the programme systematically. The teachers relished the sumptuous lunch that was served and enjoyed the day. The Principal and the Management left no stone unturned to make this event so impressive. The teaching and non-teaching faculty will always remain grateful to the Multi- Tasking Principal Rev. Fr. Robert Dsouza for his meticulous planning and execution which shows his concern for the staff and true dedication towards the school.
