Lourdes Central School celebrated Vanamahotsava on 5th  July  2019 with a Morning Assembly conducted by the students of  Eco –Club.  It began with a prayer song. Geanne of class VII C  inspired all with a thought on saving trees.

The significance of the day was read by Shreeya of class VIII C. The Principal Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza inaugurated the project ‘Crusaders of the Earth’ accompanied by Ms Shanthi  Menezes and Ms Flavia. The Principal and the Vice Principal planted a sapling  to mark the beginning of Vanamahotsava week. Students of the school choir sung a melodious song on nature.  Kriti of class VIII C recited the pledge on protecting nature. The Principal announced that tree plantation will be done in the school campus on Saturday on account of Vanamahotsava Celebration .  The Principal urged the students and faculty members to join the campaign  and do their bit to save nature. Krishnapriya of class XII  and Fariza of class XB  compered the programme.

The students went for a plantation drive on 6th July 2019 to Government ITI. Forest range officer Mr. Sridhar arranged for the planting of saplings. Students of Eco club, Scouts and Guides, Cabinet leaders accompanied the plantation drive along with the Principal Rev. Fr. Robert D’Souza, teachers and non- teaching staff.

Mr. Sridhar briefed the students the importance of growing plants. He said that deforestation has lead to the decrease of rainfall this year. He urged the students to worship the Earth. He also encouraged the students to plant one sapling at home on their birthday and nurture it. Seed balls were distributed to the students and they were asked to throw them in a place where there were no plants.

Students learnt the importance of growing plants. Students planted plants such as Jumbu nerale / Kadamba, Sampige and so on. It was an enrich experience for the students. Later during the Eco club period, the students planted many saplings in the school backyard.
