WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

“The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth.”

World Environment Day was celebrated on 6th June 2019 at Lourdes Central School with a Morning Assembly by the students of class IX C. It began with a prayer song. Viha Shetty  gave an inspiring thought on environment.

The importance of the day was given by Reola Mendonca highlighting the theme for World Environment Day 2019 – ‘Beat Air Pollution.’ We can’t stop breathing, but we can do something about the quality of air that we breathe.

Rishal Pinto spoke  about the causes and effects of air pollution and Philicia Crasta stated the  measures to control air pollution and also stressed on the UN  urging the  governments, industries, communities  and individuals to come together to explore renewable energy and green technologies and improve air quality in cities and regions across the world.

A melodious song was sung by the School Choir entitled ‘Go Green.’

The Principal Rev. Fr Robert D’Souza said that Green revolution is the best solution to stop pollution. He urged the students to protect nature and stop air pollution. He stressed on the theme of World Environment Day to ‘Beat Air Pollution.’ He appreciated the Eco club for taking the initiative to organize World Environment Day.

To spread awareness the students of classes III and IX C prepared charts and displayed it on the lobby notice board.  Students of classes V, VI and VII prepared charts and displayed it on the bulletin boards of their floors. Hridi Jain and Anvitha shetty compered the programme.
