World Environment Day 2024

Theme – ‘ Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience.’

World Environment Day was celebrated in Lourdes Central School on 5 June 2024 with the aim of  understanding the importance to fix land that has been damaged by pollution or farming so that it can be healthy again and teach ways to prepare for times when there’s  not enough rain by saving water.

The assembly was conducted by the Lead Teachers of Class 6 to 12 compered by Ms Vivita Dsouza .

Significance of the Day was given by Ms Lavina Serrao highlighting the importance of protecting our environment restoring the land, combating desertification, and building resilience against the drought.

The Principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira said that it is very crucial to put in efforts to preserve bio diversity and natural habitats while restoring degraded ecosystems.

An activity of making bookmark were conducted for the students of class 6-12, where students made a variety of creative book marks under the guidance of Class teacher. Students also displayed the bookmarks on the bulletin boards.

The following topics were highlighted in the morning assembly as per the CBSE guidelines.

  • Adopt healthy lifestyle
  • Adopt sustainable food system
  • Reduce E-waste
  • Reduce waste
  • Save Energy
  • Save water
  • Say No to single use of plastic

All the topics were elaborately explained during the assembly and the value of saving the environment was imparted to the students. On the whole World Environment day was a successful one.
