LCS Independence Week – 2023

Lourdes Central School had organized the Independence Week – 2023 from 7th to 14th August for the students of Pre KG to Class XII. Various competitions and activities were conducted with the theme ‘Tribal Empowerment’ under the Aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence and glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.

Day 1: The Independence Week was inaugurated by the Principal Rev.Fr. Robert D’Souza during the assembly conducted by class VIII A with the theme ‘Tribal Heroes in India’s Freedom Movement’.  

Day 2: The assembly was conducted by class VIII B showcasing the ‘Tribal Identity of Karbi Tribe of Assam’ their culture, customs and practices through a short play.

Day 3: The highlight of the assembly was ‘Kodagu Tribal Dances’ depicting the sacrifices of the freedom fighters by class VII A.

Day 4: Hindi assembly was conducted by class VII B with the theme ‘Tribal Festivals’ representing the vibrant cultural tapestry of India.

Day 5: Class VII C carried out the assembly with a main focus on ‘Patriotic Songs’ to get into the spirit of freedom.

Day 6: Kannada assembly was conducted by class VII D with the theme ‘Unite for Tribal Empowerment’.

Day 7: The finale of LCS Independence Week was marked on the 14th of August 2023 by class VI A with reference to the theme ‘Lets promise to save our environment’. As a tribute to mother earth ‘A Tree Plantation Drive’ was conducted.

In connection with LCS Independence Week the centre of attraction was the everyday surprise activity such as a Tricolour dish/ salad for the first break with an appreciation note from parent for their ward for the good behaviour, good value or act imbibed this year.  It also involved participation of Lourdite families at home which included- break free from social media, the students helping their mother at home, Independence Day rangoli, to watch a patriotic movie and a family day out.

The students decorated the Notice Boards with captivating slogans and quotes celebrating the nation’s freedom.

The following competitions were held on Wednesday, the 9th of August for classes I to XII from 8: 15a.m to 9: 15a.m in their respective classrooms. Class I-Greeting Card, Class II-Patriotic Singing, Class III-Book Mark, Class IV-Tricolour Paper Flower, Class V- Tricolour Wall Hanging, Class VI-Drawing of tribal festivals, Class VII to XII had Slogan Writing, Poster Making and Essay Writing on tribal empowerment. The students in big number participated actively in the above competitions to keep love for India alive.

The winners were congratulated and honoured with certificates and memento by the Principal, Rev Fr Robert Dsouza during the assembly on Monday, the 14th of August 2023. Fr Principal also congratulated and appreciated the convener Ms Sowmya for organizing LCS Independence Week 2023 and making it a memorable one.
