World Ocean Day was celebrated at LCS with an objective to promote sustainable practices for Ocean conservation and encourage students to commit themselves for actions that will safeguard marine life and the oceans.

“Planet Ocean: The Tides are Changing.”is thetheme of World Oceans Day 2023.

The students of Class 10A conductedthe assembly under the guidance of their Class Teacher, Ms Deepa Dsouza. Rishan Mohammed and Navaneeth Bekal were the comperes. Jane Moras presented the thought for the day. Nidhi Sarah John led the pledge. Amrita Nair, speaking on the significance of the day specified the role of the oceans in sustaining our livelihood by providing jobs for millions of people and food for billions.

The Principal, Rev Fr Robert Dsouza  in his address stated that the oceans are home to an astonishing array of life and the incredible biodiversity that exists beneath the waves. However, marine life faces numerous challenges that threatens its survival. Hence, we need to understand the sustainable management of resources and the implementation of sustainable goals to protect the oceans. He urged the students to evade the ocean harming products like plastics to reduce the marine pollution and to commit themselves to actions that will safeguard marine life. The assembly was concluded with the School Anthem. A Quiz was conducted on Marine Life for classes 1 to 10.

Let us be inspired by the resilience and beauty of marine life as we come together to protect our oceans. Together we can make a difference and ensure a brighter future for the magnificent creatures that call the seas their home.

We remain grateful to the Principal, Rev Fr Robert Dsouza for organising World Oceans Day at LCS.
